Luego de algunos meses de búsqueda, finalmente pude conseguir el T-Mobile G1 (el primer Google Phone), producido por la taiwanesa HTC.
En noviembre que estuve de viaje por NY traté de comprar el T-Mobile G1 (o simplemente el Google Phone, el primer teléfono que corre en Android) en algunas tiendas del operador T-Mobile (el único operador que lo comercializa), pero no lo pude conseguir sin plan (aunque el precio sin contrato de 2 años si lo tenían fijado). Lo que encontré fueron un par de tiendas que lo vendían por lo bajo en casi al doble de su precio (algo que no estaba dispuesto a aceptar). Al regreso, me resigné a esperar algunos meses más para poder tener uno, el tema es que no sabía cuantos meses iban a ser.
Hace unas semanas, un amigo viajo para EEUU y le encomendé, casi sin esperanzas, que si se veía en alguna tienda el teléfono, lo tratara de comprar. Para mi suerte, pudo comprarlo sin mayor problemas en un local del propio T-Mobile. Mi felicidad, luego de recibir un SMS en el que me decía que ya tenia el teléfono en su poder, no podía ser mayor. Dos semanas después llegaría a Lima mi primer teléfono con Android.

hey man im doing the same thing..i just got a g1 but i was wondering if it is going to work fully with the claro network..let me know if u can help me out thanks..
@hector I have mine working fine with Claro (calls, messages and GPRS internet). The only problem I had on getting it worked was activation (internet is needed as second step, first is unlocking). I was not able to activate it throw GRPS, so I had to downgrade android and enable wireless activation. Once activated, I upgraded to latest software version.
Unlocking was very easy, I just brought a code from http://www.unlock-googlephone.com and they send me one within 8 hours.

hey jorge apreciate the response..i emailed you back in your account and im writting to you here as well…whichever one gets to you faster..well im pretty much stuck in the same phase you were at before..i got the unlock code..and my prolbme is sync with google…from what your telling me i can see you were able to overcome that by downgrading?? if you can let me know about the process then it would be greatly apreciated…i have this amazing phone which i cant even use..lol well hope you can reply this as soon as you can…just write to me on my email..thanks jorge
